Aberaeron is a seaside resort town in Ceredigion, Wales, with a population of 1,500. It is located between Aberystwyth and Cardigan. The town was planned and built in 1805 around the estuary of the River Aeron, which was artificially expanded to create a harbour for recreational use. An wooden feature bridge allows walkers to cross the estuary on one of the various scenic routes of the local area.
The Regency style buildings around the harbour are unusual for Wales but the effect is very pretty and has previously featured on collectors edition postage stamps. Aberaeron south beach won the Blue Flag rural beach award in 2005. The town is most noted for its association with the life of Dylan Thomas. The Dylan Thomas Trail can be followed from Ceredigion, through Aberaeron and ending in New Quay.
