The former market town of Bromyard in the county of Herefordshire is a picturesque place of traditional half-timbered buildings amidst scenic countryside. Many of the buildings here date from the past, when Bromyard thrived as a market town and prospered from growing hops and soft fruit. St Peter's Church dates from Norman times and includes an effigy of St. Peter over the main doorway. The town’s Heritage Centre that tells the story of Bromyard’s past with displays about the history of hop growing and life-sized scenes from hop picking life, along with many early tools and artefacts.
Bromyard’s town centre has plenty of amenities, eateries, shops, restaurants and pubs as well as historic buildings centred around the High Street and Market Square. Most notable and attractive are the half-timbered pubs as well as Lower Brockhampton, a moated farmhouse and National Trust property just outside of town. Visitor attractions and activities are also plentiful in the area, with Bromyard Downs the perfect place for lovely walks and extensive views over the town, across the hills and even as far as the Welsh borders.
