Ferndale is a largely English-speaking small town of the picturesque Rhondda Valley in Rhondda Cynon Taf, Wales. It neighbours the towns of Maerdy and Tylorstown.
The Rhonda Valley as a whole offers a number of fascinating attractions for visitors, particularly those of historical interest, such as the prehistoric sites near Tonypandy, the most notable being the Iron Age burial ground of Mynydd y Gelli, on the mountain of the same name. The Iron Age settlement of Hen Dre'r Gelli can also be seen on the same mountain, with a number of Bronze Age cairns, close by.
With a large number of towns, villages and historic cities and national parks within easy reach, Porth offers an excellent vantage point from which to explore the beauty of South Wales.
