Knebworth is a village in the north of Hertfordshire, England, near Stevenage and within commuting distance of London. It is best known as the home of Knebworth House, which is open to the public and has hosted regular rock and pop open air concerts in its grounds since 1974.
The area is known to have been inhabited by neolithic humans and is rich in historical and archaeological interest. The original village developed around Knebworth House and is known as Old Knebworth. It features several listed buildings including The Roebuck Inn, which is its oldest public house built in 1420, the early Victorian Lytton Arms, and The Station public house, built in 1883. The newer Knebworth village developed in the 19th century.
