Treharris is a small town in the county of Merthyr Tydfil, in South Wales, by the Taff Bargoed River.
The steep and narrow Taff Bargoed Valley features a number of significant bridges and viaducts built to allow access and transport of goods from the colliery of the town, from which is gets its name. Harris's Deep Navigation Colliery, opened in 1878, named after F. W. Harris and his Harris Navigation Steam Coal Company. The land of the former Deep Navigation has recently been landscaped and now forms part of the new 'Millenium Park'. The site is also now a haven for Red Kites and otters. The Trim Trail and various heritage walks of the area are very popular among visitors. The park also features a fishing lake, which is frequented by numerous canoe clubs and water sports enthusiasts.
