Ashby-de-la-Zouch is a small market town in the county of Leicestershire with interesting architecture, wide main streets and a beautiful setting within the National Forest. The ruins of the 15th century Ashby-de-la-Zouch Castle that was an important site up until the 17th century can still be seen today. The Grade I listed ruins are all that is left of this castle that played host to such royal figures as Henry VII, Mary Queen of Scots, James I and Charles I. You can still climb to the top of the Hastings Tower and explore the underground passages.
The town’s Market Street is the hub of Ashby-de-la-Zouch with attractive Elizabethan and Regency buildings, independent shops, amenities, pubs and eateries as well as historic and cultural sites and attractions. The museum of Ashby-de-la-Zouch offers a wonderful trip through the past. The National Forest offers outdoor activities, lovely walks and scenery as well as diverse flora, fauna and wildlife.
