The town of Bewdley is considered one of the most picturesque in the county of Worcestershire. Georgian buildings are a key feature here in this town on the River Severn that is surrounded by the rich, undulating landscapes of the countryside. Bewdley’s main street, Load Street was once the market place and as such, is extremely wide. At the end of Load Street is St. Anne’s Church, built around 1745 and one of the landmarks here, others include Thomas Telford’s Bridge built in 1798 and the attractive riverside area and former quayside. The Bewdley Museum is the place to discover more; located in a historic Butchers Shambles, the museum has fascinating exhibits that reveal the trades and crafts of the Wyre Forest area.
The visitor will find the hub of activity and most of Bewdley's shops along Load Street, with a good choice and ample eateries, pubs and amenities too. The wonderful River Severn brings anglers who fish on its banks and the ancient woodland of the Wyre Forest is a delight for those who enjoy beautiful scenery and outdoor activities. The town puts on a host of events throughout the year, including; the Duck Race on the first day of the year, in May it’s the May Carnival as well as the Pub and Club regatta, the Bewdley Regatta in July, the Bewdley Beer Festival in August and the Bewdley Festival in October.
