The pretty village of Glenridding is situated at the southern end of the Ullswater lake — the second largest and reputedly the most beautiful lake of the Lake District National Park, in England. The village is an extremely popular tourist destination in general but is a particular favourite of hikers due to its close proximity to Helvellyn — England's third highest mountain — along with the various other peaks along Wainwright's Coast to Coast Walk.
Glenridding offers a good choice of quality holiday accommodation including various camp sites, two youth hostels, and a range of hotels and Bed & Breakfasts, as well as a tourist information centre to help visitors find their way around the myriad of attractions of the Lake District.
Just a few of the many notable attractions near Glenridding include (but are by no means limited to): Grizedale Forest, with its adventure course of rope bridges and 60ft zip slides; Peter Rabbit and Friends; Dove Cottage and the Wordsworth Museum; the Mirehouse Historic House and Gardens, which offers various activities for all the family; the Silverband Falconry; and the Bond Museum, dedicated to all things James Bond.
