Hallbankgate is a small English village in the north of the famous tourist region of Cumbria, just outside of the Lake District National Park and at the northern end of the Pennines.
The village has the advantage of being a close neighbour of the City of Carlisle, and the former quarry of Tindale Tarn, on the outskirts of Hallbankgate, is a very a popular visitor attraction for those interested in the history of Britain's industrial heritage. The area was once very active in the mining of coal, lead and limestone, but is now a peaceful commuter village. The village pub, "The Belted Will" first opened in the 17th century. It serves real ales and offers comfortable accommodation for visitors.
