Littleborough is a town near Rochdale, in Greater Manchester, England, sat amongst the South Pennines. Originally a settlement of the former Hundersfield, Littleborough's heritage is as a domestic woollen cloth producer, and mill town. Despite the dominearing redbrick mills that the Industrial Revolution imposed upon the town, Littleborough remains a very attractive place surrounded by a rolling landscape of valleys and farmlands.
Nearby Hollingworth Lake, which was built as a reservoir to supply the Rochdale Canal, is now a very popular water sports centre with a country park and nature reserve, from which there is a walkers route to Blackstone Edge moorland, which is also popular with amateur mountain climbers and is a landmark on the Rochdale Way footpath and the Pennine Way long-distance footpath that stretches to the Peak District in Derbyshire right up to Kirk Yeholm in Scotland.
