Marlborough is a picturesque market town in the county of Wiltshire; a place where the kings of Tudor times hunted for deer and a place where travellers to London rested their horses on the long journey by road. Rich in history and legend, it is said that the pre-historic mound in the grounds of Marlborough College is the burial site of Merlin. The town's motto is “Ubi nunc sapientis ossa Merlini” which translates as “Where now are the bones of wise Merlin”.
Today’s Marlborough offers plenty of history to explore, legends to question and sites of interest to visit. The markets of Marlborough continue to this day and are held on Saturdays and Wednesdays. You can shop for locally grown produce, crafts, fashion, pots, plants and much more. There's also a popular Farmer's market held on the second Saturday in the month, as well as a Continental market that adds a unique and vibrant flavour to the town’s atmosphere yearly in July.
