Moniaive is a village in the Southern Scotland county of Dumfries and Galloway, neighbouring Thornhill. It enjoys a scenic location at the northern end of the Cairn Valley, where four valleys meet, and its name derives from a Gaelic phrase meaning "Hill of Streams", making is a very popular destination for outdoor pursuits and exploration of the beautiful Scottish landscape.
This was a planned development by a private landowner in the 17th century, that now offers a relatively modern take on the traditional village format, with a convenience shop, a post office, an organic café, and several arts and crafts studios, along with two reputable hotels, with bars and restaurants.
