Perhaps best known for its association with the popular marmalade-loving children's character "Paddington Bear", the English suburb of Paddington is an area of the City of Westminster, in Central London.
The three most prominent landmarks of the district are Paddington station, St Mary's Hospital, and the Paddington Green police station.
St Mary's Hospital, is located on Praed Street, was the site of a number of great medical accomplishments, including the synthesisation of heroin, and the isolation of penicillin, which earned Alexander Flemming a Nobel Prize. Visitors can now view Flemming's restored laboratory in the hospital's dedicated museum. The hospital is also the birthplace of princes William and Harry.
