Tilbury is a town in the south of Essex, in England, which serves largely as a commuter base for London. It is a relatively new town, although it is also the location of a 16th century fort and an ancient ferry crossing over the River Thames.
This is an attractive and historically fascinating town, with excellent transport links, and a good choice of holiday accommodation, including several caravan parks, hotels and guest houses, along with good local shopping prospects and a varied selection of pubs and restaurants. Popular attractions in the area include Colchester Castle, Colchester Zoo, Waltham Abbey, Mangapps Railway Museum, Epping Forest, and Hedingham Castle, to name only a handful, along with all the sites and attractions of London, just a stone's throw away.
