Walton-on-the-Naze is a small, traditional seaside town in the county of Essex with a fascinating history, attractive architecture, the second longest pier in Britain and miles of golden, sandy beaches. It was at the start of the 19th century that Walton became a seaside resort; first for the locals and later, when transport links improved, its popularity increased with those from beyond the area. The first guide to Walton as a seaside resort came out in 1829, around the same time that The Marine Hotel opened and the first pier was built. Walton continued to grow and prosper and the original pier was lengthened and improved.
This lovely seaside resort has wonderful beaches, charming eateries, a choice of pubs, independent shops and lots to see and do. There are plenty of historic and visitor attractions to enjoy, including the impressive Naze Tower, the historic 86 foot landmark with eight floors housing an art gallery, exhibitions, museum and a roof viewing platform with spectacular panoramic views.
